Just Peachy!!

Wow...I haven't posted anything in awhile. That's what happens when you have an amazing hair salon that is super busy!! ;)

Summer is upon us!! HooooraY! What's new for summa-time?!?

Everything is just peachy!! Why wouldn't it be, we are in Georgia right? I like this peach blouse number from ASOS.com

Another HOT peach item are these Badgley Mischka sandals. I'm sorry, but these are a great price and super sexy. Found on Zappos.com. Wear these two pieces together! Tuck that top into a cute cream colored skirt and BAM!, an amazing outfit for almost any occasion!
I remember a peach Barbie Doll that was my absolute favorite. Peaches and Cream!! Anyone else remember?!?

The skinny...

Skinny jeans were first brought back a few years ago by indie rock kids. Now it's definitely more mainstream and available for any taste. Kate Moss' look with white wash denim and medium gray shirt with a light biker jacket is definitely my favorite way to rock the skinny jeans. Wear with pumps or flats. Try it in a flashy color like Vic's electric blue skinnies. Get the look! Almost every boutique, department store, heck, even Wal Mart has them on their racks.

On the list...

Here's one thing I will reward myself with, a new pair of shoes. I just fell in love with these Jessica Simpson heels. I think I just like the look of the wood. You can grab these for $89 at Bakers Shoes.

I'm also digging these sandal/wedges from ALDO Shoes.

Whoa

Ok, ok...this is totally extreme for Fayetteville...but trust me, in 3 years you might find your self sittin pretty in some day glow shiny leggings (shiny black leggings are in...why not electric green?). Fashion like this amazes me. You might not ever wear inner tubes covered in cloth, but I love those harem pants that look like a dress, would be better in a basic black silk. But, hats off to you Agatha and your red lips!

Behind The Scenes

I want to work back stage!! If you can't view this click here.

One of these days, my friends. ;)

This is behind the scenes Marc Jacobs Fall 2010. Francois Nars for Nars makeup talking about what the look of the makeup is for the show, Guido Palau for Redken hair, and Roxanne Valonoti for CDN...amazing nail color if you haven't tried it!! I love their gray color!!

Fashion Week!!

Only in the last 2 years have I really gotten into high end fashion. Following Guido on Runway Style hair, I'm now paying much more attention to details. Here is a link to style.com's pics of off the runway looks at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Amazing pics of shoes, hand bags, nails, hair and the details that go into high fashion. LOVE IT!! ;) It's a different perspective on Fashion Week and definitely a fashion show within itself.

Through the Looking Glass...

You can find fashion in anything. And I can't wait to see Tim Burton's/Disney's Alice in Wonderland. The hair, the makeup, the costumes!! Disney is one smart cookie. They partnered up with O.P.I. and Urban Decay to market to those who like to play makeup. O.P.I. came out with their line of Alice in Wonderland inspired colors. I'm a red fan so I'm in love with their "Off with Her Red." Give some of the shades a try!Urban Decay laid out a palette of great shadows, liners and a primer. From mild to wild, you'll love the names, Jabberwocky, Curiouser, etc. Of course the shadows are just copies from the Urban Decay line but given appropriate Alice in Wonderland names. It's a nice price at $52 for 16 shades, you can find both at Ulta.com
For even more Alice fashions look for Tom Binns jewelry (available at Boutiquetoyou.com) and Sue Wong clothing (available at Bloomingdales).

Oh no, they went there.

I've seen the Skechers Shape Ups tennis shoes. But look....

Yes, a Shape Up BOOT!!! Yes it's still Skechers!! Found on ASOS.com for $110GBP. I'm sure you can find them somewhere state side too. Just thought I'd share this find. I'm not promoting that it's a fashionable boot, but if you're going to walk around in an ugly boot you might as well be workin' those glutes!! ;)

2010 Hair Trend

My personal favorite hair trend from the runways for 2010, and one that is easy to do for and every day look, is the center part with texture. You've seen it on Kim Kardashian, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Anniston...I can keep going. Focus on volume in mid-lengths to ends by using a volumizing product (Redken Wool Shake 08!) and create texture. Spray in Wool Shake before you dry, no need to use a brush, you'll want to keep that "organic" texture. You can create more texture by spraying Wool Shake on dry hair and curling with a large curling iron...this will help polish the look and the Wool Shake will give it staying power.

I love this post from Elle.com. Orlando Pita for Diane von Furstenburg shows how to create a runway look that has this amazing texture without the use of hot tools! And it's so stinkin simple. Cornrows. A great post from Elle, great hair and can't wait to try it out. Very beachy! ;)

Plaid-e-o!

Here ya go boys! The plaid-ness is everywhere. Everyone is wearing plaid. Plaid, plaid, plaid. I like it. Of course I was a grunge, Nirvana loving kid growing up...plaid. This one is for the boys...plaid tie. How to wear...it makes a great accessory with a white shirt and slacks. Skinny? Wide? Make sure the tie is proportionate to your size. A skinny tie on a bigger guy...will only make them look bigger. So be aware when picking a tie width. Check out The Tie Bar for more looks and styles.

Wedding Dresses!!!

For the start of a new chapter in life....have a great dress on! That's a good one to live by. ;) A wedding dress is epitome of a new chapter dress. The thing is...there are SO many to pick from. The positive from that is that you can find one that fits you, your personality, your style, one that just says you. There are great resources online to search for your perfect dress and to fit into your perfect budget. Of course, brides.com is going to be your go-to site. Search what's on the runway...what's new for the season, sometimes even next season depending on your date. My personal favorite designer is Jenny Packham. www.jennypackham.com

Hair Color...At Home...

So, you're thinking about coloring your hair....at home. As a stylist I get asked a lot, especially during economic hardships, "is coloring your own hair OK?" I can't explain enough WHY you need a professional to choose your color and apply it for you. Let's break it down:

So, you buy a box of color, it's got this beautiful copper red on the box and that's exactly how you want you color to look, like the red head from Desperate Housewives. You are a natural medium brown. You're so excited!!! You prep, get that old button up t-shirt and mix the products. Shake up that bottle and then go to town. Then you realize, uh oh, this is not going to be enough product. It's OK, I can mush it all together, right? OK, all mushed. Now, wait 30 minutes. You run around and do some chores. Come back into the bathroom and realize...their are red spots all over your bathroom. Shower curtain, toilet, sink, counter...speckled with red. Panic. You try to clean it up, but it's already set in. (Bleaching will just turn it a yellowy orange.) You hop in the shower to shampoo your new color and that big tube of conditioner that came with the color your purchased. (There is a reason you need that big tube of conditioner, your hair needs it after that jolt of high alkaline hair color!!) And now, let's dry it! Ends don't quite look right, like mud and my root area is electric bright. What just happened?

Trust me, this is a familiar story. If you want a new look, please get a professional opinion first, color consultations are normally free!! Just a few minutes of your time and you'll have a clearer outlook of what your new look will look like and how your stylist can take you there. Professional application, you're stylist knows exactly how much to mix, what to mix on certain areas to make your color look even and flawless. Another thing, your stylist has all the tools to fix the problems that can occur when doing color changes. And save that shower curtain!! ;) Cassie

Let go, JUMP in!!

Flashback!! So a new generation hasn't witnessed certain styles from 20 years ago. It's this generation that's going to bring back some way-back-when styles (that some of us wish we had forgotten about). We have been straightening our hair for the past 10 years...now there is a generation that....ahem...is thinking about a PERM!!! (Thank you Taylor Swift). I say heck yeah!! Okok, perms have a certain "smell" while they are processing, but they have come a long way from perms of the 80's.

Another 70/80's style that is swinging back in the mix are jumpsuits and rompers. Again...not for everyone, but a hot new trend for 2010!

Purple.Haze

In LOVE with these shoes. Gabriella Rocha, on sale at Zappos.com. This style comes in black and white options also. How to wear purple pumps? The possibilities are endless, actually. Wear with all black to let your accessories pop or wear with cool hued pieces for a nice color palette. Be daring!! :) Cassie

Dark Lips!

Lips were dark and matte for Fall/Winter 2009. My fashion forecast...don't toss that dark pout!! For summer I still see dark lips but glazed in a clear gloss for high shine dark lips. Try Sephora Brand Rouge Cream Lipstick in Intimidate, blot, then cover with your favorite clear lip gloss for 2010 Spring/Summer!!

Black...the new black.

The little black dress should be a staple in any girl's closet. Black can easily be accessorized to the max for a night out at a club or toned down for a low key business dinner. And now there are so many different variations and textures for any taste. Be daring, try the newest trend, the leather, fitted, black dress. As seen here on Angelina, I love the fact that it's sleek, but the pockets actually tone it down and make it a wearable style.

Ok, ok. Probably not a realistic style to wear in South Georgia. So...here is something that is totally wearable and easy to accessorize for any age.

Super cute!! I can imagine this being paired up with any color shoes or leggings/tights with a pair of over the knee boots!! By keeping the dress a little plain we can play up our accessories. Have fun with your little black dress!!

:)
